The Hated Castle

Role: Art direction & Graphic design
A dramatic universe of points connects the past and present in an eccentric story about the mysterious medieval castle Hammershus on the island of Bornholm. A visitor centre where the past and the present is tied together in an airy poetic point cloud universe, that gives the feeling of history disappearing like particles flowing in the air. The point cloud aesthetics is created from a combination of high-resolution 3D scans of humans, objects and landscapes, which have been rescanned into point clouds to fit the visual style. This visual style is implemented in both printed and digital form in the exhibition. We have created an experience that honours the task of telling the long story of the medieval castle ruin of Hammershus in a 20-minute visit. An experience that can accomodate 500,000 visitors each year, is easy to manage technically, durable and creates a strong relationship with the aesthetics of the new ”visitor centre building” by architect Christoffer Harlang in collaboration with Arkitema. The exhibition is created in collaboration between Museum Southeast Denmark and Yoke.
